Congrats sister, looks like you are looking into your first solo travel adventure?! Nice one!
When I was only about 19 years old, I went on my first trip. Solo. No one else had money, time, or any sense of adventure to join me, so what did I do? I went solo! Little did I know that my first trip to the Canary Islands in Spain would change my life forever.
However, in 2010 there was not much information out there on what to look out for when you are traveling solo as a woman. I just went out in the world, quite naively when I look back. I slept on couches of strangers with Couchsurfing, I’ve met random people in bars and I didn’t think that anything could eventually happen (which it didn’t thankfully until this day). However, don’t be as naive as me and plan ahead when you head out the first time on your own. You will not regret it I’m sure but just take some precautions and you will be fine and to have the time of your life.
So here we go. In this blog post, I will share 33 specific tips that cover various aspects of solo travel, including safety, meeting fellow travelers, saving money, and more. So, let’s dive in and make your solo travel experience truly unforgettable!
7. Stay in social accommodations: Opt for hostels, guesthouses, or community-based lodging where you can meet fellow travelers.
12. Travel during the off-peak season: Accommodation and flight prices tend to be lower during non-peak times.
18. Travel light: Only pack essentials to avoid the hassle of lugging around heavy luggage.
23. Get a local SIM card or an eSIM: Stay connected with loved ones and access important information while on the go.
27. Practice self-care: Take time for yourself to relax, reflect, and recharge.
30. Dress modestly: Research and respect local customs regarding appropriate clothing.
With these 33 personal tips for your female solo traveling adventure, you have a comprehensive guide to make the most of your solo travel experience. Remember to prioritize safety, connect with fellow travelers, save money, and embrace new experiences. Be confident, trust yourself, and open your heart to the world. Your solo travel adventure awaits! Safe travels sister!
